Flooring & Box Calculator
Choose an in-stock floor, enter one or more rooms, and calculate the complete cartons and estimated material cost for your project.
How the calculation works
We total your measured rooms, add the waste allowance you select, and then round up to complete cartons using the manufacturer carton coverage listed for that product.
Before ordering
This tool provides a material estimate, not a final quote. Room shape, installation direction, closets, stairs, pattern placement, damaged material, transitions, and field conditions can change the quantity required.
Flooring Measurement Questions
How much extra flooring should I purchase?
Ten percent waste is appropriate for many straightforward projects. Simple rooms may need less, while diagonal layouts, multiple angles, stairs, pattern selection, or future repairs may require more.
Why does the calculator round up to full boxes?
Flooring is sold in complete cartons. The calculator uses the selected product's carton coverage and rounds up so the estimate does not include partial boxes.
Should closets be included in the room measurements?
Yes. Include closets, connected areas, alcoves, and every other surface that will receive the flooring.
Does this calculator provide a final installation quote?
No. It provides a material planning estimate. A professional measurement can account for stairs, transitions, installation direction, subfloor conditions, and other job details.
